Play safety services
As well as offering training on play safety in general, capt is able to provide training relating to disabled children and fixed equipment playgrounds. Making playgrounds safe and accessible for disabled children may appear to conflict with providing exciting play opportunities. Since October 2004 playground managers have had to make “Reasonable modifications” to their playgrounds to comply with the recommendations of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). This training draws on the NPFA report Can Play Will Play prepared by capt play safety consultant Rob Wheway (report available on the NPFA website). The training is aimed at play staff in local authorities and as well as others who operate play facilities.

Play safety consultancy
We can offer a comprehensive consultancy service on play and playground safety thanks to our relationship with play specialist Rob Wheway. The service can provide inspections of outdoor and indoor play areas, including the development of management systems that can make these more cost-effective, training and seminars for playground inspectors, people involved in access for disabled people, etc, consultancy to support the development of play strategies, post-installation inspections of playground equipment and expert witness work.
A capt pamphlet addressing the urban myths associated with playgrounds has been written by Rob Wheway.
For a no-obligation discussion about what we can offer, costs, etc, speak to Rob Wheway on 024 7671 4784, email Rob Wheway, or download our flyer about our play consultancy service.
